Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Unveil Official Motto
Paris, The Gulf Observer: The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) proudly announced its official motto, “Africa welcomes, Dakar celebrates,” at the ongoing 142nd Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
This significant motto underscores Senegal’s historic role as the first African nation to host an Olympic sporting event, while also highlighting the collective spirit of the entire continent. The Dakar 2026 organizing committee (YOGOC) introduced the motto to capture the essence of African hospitality and the vibrant spirit of Dakar, inviting the world to unite in celebration.
“This motto is designed to capture the essence of African hospitality and the festive spirit of Dakar, while inviting the world to share and celebrate together,” stated Kirsty Coventry, IOC member and Chair of the Coordination Commission for the YOG Dakar 2026.
Scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 14, 2026, the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar will feature the world’s top young athletes across three host sites: Dakar, Diamniadio, and Saly. The event aims to transform Senegal through sport and set a positive precedent for future Youth Olympic Games hosts.
In conjunction with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the YOGOC plans to engage fans at Africa Station on L’ile-Saint-Denis with cultural and sporting events, and at Parc Georges-Valbon with broadcasts, workshops, and various activities, promoting the spirit and enthusiasm of Dakar 2026.
