Death Toll Rises to 18 After Torrential Rains and Floods in Morocco

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Southern Morocco has been struck by devastating floods following torrential rains, with the death toll rising to at least 18, according to local authorities. The hardest-hit provinces include Tata, Tiznit, Errachidia, Tinghir, and Taroudant, where widespread destruction has been reported.
The floods, which began on Saturday, have swamped numerous villages in the affected areas. Among the deceased are three foreign nationals from Spain, Canada, and Peru, highlighting the international impact of the disaster. Authorities have also reported that at least four individuals remain missing, with search and rescue operations underway.
In addition to the tragic loss of life, the floods have caused significant infrastructural damage. A total of 56 homes were destroyed, and 110 roads have been severely impacted. Essential services, including electricity, water supply, and phone networks, have also been disrupted, further complicating relief efforts.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and coordinate emergency responses to provide aid to the affected communities.
