Dushanbe to Host SCO Council of Heads of Government Meeting in October

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, is set to host the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in October this year, according to media reports.

Preparations for the high-level meeting have already begun, with authorities establishing an organizing committee to coordinate arrangements for the event.

The Council of Heads of Government is one of the key decision-making bodies within the SCO framework, focusing on economic cooperation, budgetary matters, and development initiatives among member states.

The previous meeting of the Council was held in Dushanbe on October 12, 2018. The gathering brought together the prime ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the premier of the State Council of China and the chairman of the government of Russia.

Foreign ministers from India and Pakistan also attended the meeting, along with delegations from SCO observer states and representatives of several international organizations.

During the 2018 session, participants signed ten resolutions and two additional agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation among the ministries and agencies of SCO member countries.

Officials expect the upcoming meeting to further strengthen regional economic collaboration and promote deeper cooperation among SCO member states.
