EBRD President to Visit Kazakhstan for High-Level Meetings
Astana, The Gulf Observer: Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will embark on an official visit to Kazakhstan from October 31 to November 1, 2024, for strategic discussions with top Kazakh officials and representatives from leading financial institutions. The visit, announced by the EBRD press service, underscores the Bank’s deepening engagement with Kazakhstan, its largest and longest-running partner in Central Asia.
Renaud-Basso’s two-day agenda includes a meeting with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and bilateral discussions with leaders of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Several agreements are expected to be signed to advance sustainable infrastructure initiatives in Kazakhstan.
Marking the 26th anniversary of the Foreign Investors’ Council, Renaud-Basso will co-chair a plenary session, emphasizing the pivotal role of foreign investment in Kazakhstan’s economic growth. Additionally, she will address the Global Businesswoman Council and inaugurate the EBRD’s new office in Astana, further reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to the region.
Throughout her visit, Renaud-Basso will highlight the importance of renewable energy for Kazakhstan’s economy, the critical role of public-private partnerships in developing essential infrastructure, and the need for greater interregional connectivity and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). To date, the EBRD has invested over €10 billion across 330 projects in Kazakhstan, fostering sustainable development and economic resilience in the nation.
