Egypt, Italy discuss bilateral cooperation
Cairo, The Gulf Observer: Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met Sunday with Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani at Al Itihadiyah Presidential Palace to confer over bilateral cooperation, and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The meeting discussed developing cooperation in the sectors of trade, investment, agriculture, and energy security, especially in the field of natural gas, through the existing strategic partnership between Egypt and Italy’s Eni.
The talks equally covered the efforts deployed by Egypt to combat illegal migration as well as terrorism and extremist thought. In that area, the minister commended the role of Egypt in promoting the principles of tolerance and freedom of belief.
The minister also brought up the legal case of Italian student Giulio Regeni, who got murdered in Egypt a few years ago, requesting cooperation to unearth the truth and achieve justice.
