Emine Erdoğan Visits National Museum of Oman During Turkish Presidential State Visit

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Emine Erdoğan, Spouse of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, paid a visit to the National Museum of Oman on Thursday, October 23, 2025, as part of the state visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the Sultanate of Oman.

During the visit, Mrs. Erdoğan toured the museum’s galleries and halls, where she was briefed on the institution’s collections and exhibits that highlight Oman’s rich history, heritage, and civilization.

In the “Earth and People” hall, she viewed adornment artifacts and the special display dedicated to Omani–Turkish relations. The display features several historical items, including Ottoman coins, a replica of the Holy Quran attributed to Caliph Uthman bin Affan from the Topkapi Palace Museum (first edition), and an ornamented ceramic and copper plate gifted by former Turkish Minister of Defense Mehmet Vedat Gönül to the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour.

Her tour continued through the Prehistory and Ancient Ages hall, which presents archaeological sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, such as Bat, Al-Khutm, and Al-Ayn. She was introduced to artifacts from the Bat tombs, various types of frankincense, the oldest incense burner, and the oldest golden necklace discovered in Oman.

In the Splendors of Islam hall, Mrs. Erdoğan observed exhibits showcasing Islamic architecture and art, including a mihrab (prayer niche), arabesque ornaments, and a section emphasizing the role and status of women in Islam.

The visit also included the Oman and the World hall, where she viewed a number of personal belongings of Sayyida Salma bint Said Al Busaidi.

Mrs. Erdoğan also paused in the Renaissance Hall at the corner dedicated to the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour, where she viewed the original Letter No. (1) addressed by Sultan Qaboos to the esteemed members of the Royal Family Council through the Defence Council.

The distinguished guest was accompanied during the visit by Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education.

The visit underscored the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties between Oman and Türkiye and highlighted the shared appreciation of both nations for heritage preservation and intercultural understanding.
