Erdogan Criticizes Israel's Actions as "Terrorism," Advocates for Dialogue

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has intensified his criticism of Israel, condemning the country as a “Zionist terrorist organisation” in response to its ongoing military actions in Gaza and Lebanon. Speaking at a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in Ankara, Erdogan denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government, accusing them of conducting violent actions that amount to terrorism.

“Since last year, Israel has been acting like a terrorist organisation instead of a state,” Erdogan stated, pointing to Israeli strikes in Gaza and Lebanon. He went on to say that Netanyahu and his “murderous network are delusional and embarking on a very dangerous adventure,” adding, “History will never forgive those who applaud the monster responsible for the blood of tens of thousands of Palestinian children, women, and civilians.”

Erdogan also called for enhanced regional cooperation to address the escalating conflict, urging more dialogue and reconciliation. “Considering the atmosphere in our region, we believe that we need to talk more, we need reconciliation,” he said.

In his address, Erdogan expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, lauding their resilience. “We know very, very well that the Palestinian people are also defending humanity, defending the dignity of Muslims,” he said.

The conflict, sparked by a Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, has since escalated, with Israel launching extensive air and ground assaults on Gaza and Lebanon. According to reports, the death toll in Gaza has surpassed 41,000.

Erdogan warned Israel against pursuing its “promised land delusion,” predicting that it would lead to deep disappointment. He vowed that Türkiye would remain vigilant in safeguarding its own security and would not allow any expansionist ambitions in the region to come to fruition.

The Turkish leader also criticized Western nations for their continued supply of arms to Israel, questioning their role in perpetuating the violence.

The escalating situation has drawn international attention, with many world leaders calling for a ceasefire and renewed efforts towards peace in the region.
