Erdogan Stresses Need to Eliminate Terrorism in Syria During Call with Syrian President

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stressed that the complete removal of terrorism from Syrian territory is essential not only for Syria but also for the stability and security of the entire region, during a phone call with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa on Sunday.
According to a statement by Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, President Erdogan told his Syrian counterpart that Türkiye’s support for Syria would continue to expand across multiple areas, particularly in counterterrorism efforts.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations as well as recent developments in Syria. During the conversation, President Erdogan reaffirmed that Türkiye places great importance on Syria’s territorial integrity, unity, cohesion, stability, and security.
Erdogan reiterated Ankara’s commitment to contributing to regional peace and stability, underlining Türkiye’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Syria in addressing shared security challenges.
