Erdogan Voices Deep Concern Over Israel’s Aggression in Talks with Qatari Emir
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again issued a strong call to the international community, urging immediate action to stop Israel’s escalating military aggression, which he warns could spiral into a wider and even more destructive conflict in the region.
During a meeting with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Ankara, President Erdogan expressed deep concern over Israel’s recent actions, particularly its attacks on Palestinian territories and Lebanon. The Turkish Communications Directorate released a statement highlighting Erdogan’s remarks, in which he accused Tel Aviv of deliberately escalating tensions in the region.
“President Erdogan stated that Israel’s assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh has once again demonstrated Israel’s lack of intention to engage in a ceasefire,” the statement read.
Although Israel has not officially acknowledged the killing of Haniyeh in an attack in Tehran last week, reports indicate that Tel Aviv was behind the assassination and had informed the United States beforehand.
President Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to working towards lasting peace in the region and emphasized the importance of close cooperation with Qatar to achieve this goal.
In addition to discussing the regional situation, Erdogan and Al Thani reviewed the state of bilateral relations between Türkiye and Qatar. The Turkish president expressed Türkiye’s “full commitment” to advancing cooperation with Qatar across various sectors, including economic, political, military, commercial, and cultural fields. He emphasized that future collaborative efforts will serve to reinforce the solidarity between the two nations.
This meeting underscores the deepening ties between Türkiye and Qatar and their shared resolve to address critical issues affecting the region.
