Ethiopia, Pakistan Review Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation During Courtesy Call in Islamabad

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: H.E. Ambassador Dr. Oumer Hussein Oba, Ambassador-designate of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on December 22, 2025.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and Pakistan across a range of areas, including peace and security, climate change, trade and investment, as well as business-to-business and people-to-people contacts.
Ambassador Dr. Oumer Hussein Oba underscored the importance Ethiopia attaches to its relations with Pakistan and highlighted the significant potential for expanding institutional cooperation. He noted that enhanced engagement aligns with Pakistan’s “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies, which aim to strengthen partnerships with African nations.
Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, in turn, briefed the Ethiopian envoy on his recent visit to Ethiopia, which included an investment delegation focused on exploring opportunities to deepen economic and commercial ties between the two countries.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening relations with Ethiopia, Ambassador Hamid Asghar emphasized Islamabad’s support for advancing both bilateral and multilateral cooperation, with a view to promoting shared interests and mutually beneficial outcomes.
