Ethiopian Air Force Commander Visits Pakistan Air Force Headquarters

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Lieutenant General Yilma Merdassa, Commander of the Ethiopian Air Force, called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, at Air Headquarters, Islamabad. The meeting focused on areas of professional interest and reaffirmed both countries’ resolve to strengthen cooperation between their Air Forces.
Upon arrival, Lieutenant General Yilma Merdassa was received with a Guard of Honour presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Air Force.
During the discussions, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu reiterated Pakistan Air Force’s commitment to enhancing military partnership through joint training initiatives. He assured the visiting dignitary of PAF’s steadfast support to the Ethiopian Air Force in professional development, emphasizing Pakistan’s continued dedication to fostering cordial relations with Ethiopia. He highlighted PAF’s readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in capacity building, advanced training, and operational domains.
Lieutenant General Yilma Merdassa expressed sincere gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation. The Ethiopian Air Chief emphasized the desire to learn from PAF’s rich combat experience, integrated command systems, and technological innovations to strengthen Ethiopia’s operational capabilities. He also expressed interest in exploring technology transfer within the aviation sector, particularly for indigenous development and modernization initiatives.
As part of his visit, Lieutenant General Merdassa received detailed briefings at the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre and the PAF Cyber Command, appreciating Pakistan Air Force’s technological advancements and integration of cutting-edge capabilities in modern warfare.
