Ethiopian Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Meets President Asif Ali Zardari

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, called on H.E. Asif Ali Zardari, the Honorable President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker conveyed heartfelt condolences over the loss of precious lives in the recent flash floods in various parts of Pakistan. He noted that Pakistan, despite being one of the lowest contributors to climate change, is bearing a disproportionately heavy price for its impacts. He assured that Ethiopia stands firmly with the Government and the people of Pakistan in their fight against climate change and expressed solidarity in these difficult times.

The Honorable President expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for Ethiopia’s support and valued the growing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in areas of peace and security, trade, investment, aviation, science and technology, climate change, culture, and tourism.

President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening Pakistan–Africa relations under the “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy. He also lauded Ethiopia’s leading role in regional integration and its active contribution to the global climate agenda.
