Brussels, The Gulf Observer: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen revealed that the European Union has already allocated more than 130 billion euros in support for Ukraine, highlighting Europe’s significant contributions to the country amidst the ongoing conflict.

Speaking to reporters after the European Council meeting, von der Leyen emphasized that the EU has delivered more weapons to Ukraine than the United States. “Looking back, Europe has so far provided Ukraine with almost 130 billion euros,” she said. She further clarified that the European Union is responsible for 47% of the total weapons sent to Ukraine, while the United States has contributed around 40%.

Von der Leyen also announced that Brussels is prepared to allocate an additional 30.6 billion euros in financial assistance to Ukraine for the upcoming year. This figure, however, does not include arms deliveries, which are accounted for separately.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that Ukraine has received 98% of its weapons from NATO member countries, underscoring the alliance’s crucial role in supporting the Ukrainian defense effort.

The EU’s continued financial and military support underscores its commitment to Ukraine as it faces ongoing challenges in the region.
