Fifty-Seventh Plenary Session of Uzbekistan’s Senate Continues Deliberations
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The fifty-seventh plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan is underway, bringing together senators, government officials, heads of ministries and agencies, and members of the media.
Chaired by Senate Chairman Tanzila Norboeva, the first day of the session saw the approval of several key laws, including those on providing psychological assistance to the population, land leasing and land plots, expanding the authority of local councils, protection from domestic violence, educational activities, and broadening the scope of administrative responsibility.
On the second day, the Senate will deliberate on laws concerning the legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons, the development of special economic zones, simplifying reporting processes for businesses, state procurement reforms, and proposed amendments to existing legislation.
Additionally, the International Labor Organization’s Convention No. 155 on Occupational Safety and Health and the Working Environment, originally adopted in Geneva in 1981, is expected to be ratified. Senators will also review the national report on the Republic of Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts in combating corruption.
