First Lady Iriana Oversees Child Vaccination Drive in Makassar

Makassar, The Gulf Observer: First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Second Lady Wury Ma’ruf Amin, and members of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet Era Solidarity Action Organization (OASE KIM) conducted an inspection of child immunization efforts at an integrated health post (Posyandu) in Makassar on Friday. This visit was a key part of the First Lady’s official agenda in South Sulawesi province.

According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat, Iriana arrived at Posyandu Asoka VII A around 8 a.m. local time. The visit underscored the government’s ongoing commitment to improving public health, particularly through child immunization programs.

OASE KIM Vice Chairperson Ida Gunadi Sadikin emphasized that August has been designated as the month for providing Vitamin A to children, alongside the continued nationwide implementation of polio vaccinations. She also noted that Posyandu Asoka VII A has been recognized as a life cycle posyandu, offering comprehensive health services to people at all stages of life, including pregnant women, toddlers, adolescents, and senior citizens.

During the visit, First Lady Iriana, Second Lady Wury, and members of OASE KIM engaged directly with local residents, discussing the importance of immunizations and the impact of the government’s health initiatives.

Asmira, a local resident, praised the vaccination program, highlighting its role in fostering healthy growth among children. “This activity truly helps children grow healthily. The Indonesian nation will leap further by producing smart children,” she stated. She also expressed her hope that the vaccination program would reach every child in need across the country. “I hope that all children in Indonesia will receive a polio vaccine so that they can grow healthily,” she added.

This event reflects the government’s dedication to safeguarding the health of the nation’s children and ensuring that essential immunizations are accessible to all.
