First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva Pays Respects at Historic Bibiheybet Shrine
Baku, The Gulf Observer: On August 26, Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, accompanied by her daughter Leyla Aliyeva, paid a visit to the Bibiheybet Shrine Complex, a significant historical and religious site in Azerbaijan.
The Bibiheybet Shrine, dating back to the 7th century, is revered as the resting place of four descendants of the Prophet Muhammad, making it a place of deep spiritual importance for many.
This visit by the First Lady and her daughter highlights the continued significance of the Bibiheybet Complex in Azerbaijan’s cultural and religious heritage. In 2008, President Ilham Aliyev, along with First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and other family members, participated in the reopening ceremony of the shrine following a major renovation. The restoration of this ancient site was part of Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to preserve its historical monuments and ensure that such places of cultural and spiritual value are maintained for future generations.
