Former AirAsia chairman Pahamin Rajab dies
Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: Datuk Pahamin Rajab, the former chairman of budget airline AirAsia Berhad died on a flight to the United Kingdom last night, his son-in-law and actor Azhar Sulaiman said early this morning.
According to news reports by local broadcaster TV3 and Malay daily Harian Metro, Pahamin was aged 77.
“My father-in-law Datuk Pahamin Rajab just passed away. He just arrived in London, got a heart attack on the plane,” Azhar, 51, said in his Instagram Story.
He related that his mother-in-law and son were travelling together to London to attend the latter’s graduation ceremony.
“So all of us will be flying to London starting on Monday,” he added.
Pahamin was once secretary-general of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry from 1998 to 2001 and had been director-general of the Road Transport Department from 1974 to 1988.
