Fujairah Martial Arts Club Wins UK’s “Excellence in Social Responsibility” Award Amid UAE’s Year of Community

Fujairah, The Gulf Observer: As the UAE marks 2025 as the “Year of Community,” the Fujairah Martial Arts Club (FMAC) has received the prestigious “Excellence in Social Responsibility” award from the Green Organisation in the United Kingdom, recognizing the club’s outstanding contributions to community service and social sustainability through sports.

The international accolade underscores FMAC’s pioneering role in using martial arts as a platform for youth development, community engagement, and ethical sportsmanship. At the heart of the club’s success is its flagship initiative, the “Future Generations” programme, which identifies and nurtures young martial arts talents while promoting personal growth and community values.

FMAC has built strategic partnerships with local schools, integrating sports into educational environments to foster character development among students. The club has also led awareness workshops and training sessions in collaboration with government and private institutions to promote safety, ethics, and behavioral best practices across the sports sector.

Further cementing its community-centric mission, FMAC launched a comprehensive sports season featuring six inclusive races catering to participants of all ages — from children to senior citizens. These events have successfully brought together diverse segments of society, reinforcing the concept of sports as a unifying lifestyle choice.

FMAC’s latest recognition places it among the region’s most socially responsible sports institutions.

Nader Abu Shawish, Director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, dedicated the award to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, saying:

“We dedicate this achievement to His Highness, our guiding force and constant supporter. Winning this award in the Year of Community amplifies our commitment to local service and the empowerment of future generations.”

He added:

“This international recognition is the fruit of tireless teamwork — from administration to volunteers. It reinforces our belief that sports go beyond competition; they are a tool for development, unity, and sustainability.”

As the UAE champions community-driven initiatives in 2025, FMAC’s achievement stands as a model for how sports institutions can actively contribute to building a cohesive and resilient society.
