Gaza Contact Group Working to Halt "Genocide" in Gaza, Says Turkish FM

New York, The Gulf Observer: The Gaza Contact Group has been doing everything in its power to halt what it describes as “genocide” against Palestinians in Gaza, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. His remarks came during a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Arab League Contact Group, held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Speaking to the group, Fidan emphasized the critical importance of raising international awareness about the ongoing attacks on Palestinian civilians. “The contact group has been doing its best to bring attention to the dire situation and ongoing violence in Gaza,” he said, according to official sources.

“This week, during our meetings and bilateral discussions, we must focus on the knife-edge situation in Palestine and its dangerous consequences,” Fidan stressed, urging the international community to prioritize the Palestinian issue during diplomatic engagements.

The Gaza Contact Group was formed during the OIC-Arab League Extraordinary Joint Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last November. Since then, the group has been actively involved in diplomatic efforts, engaging with various international capitals to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Gaza.

Fidan reiterated the need for urgent action to prevent further escalation and to protect Palestinian civilians from the violence. The group’s efforts are part of a broader diplomatic initiative aimed at securing peace and stability in the region.
