Gaza Media Office Warns of Humanitarian Crisis as Winter Approaches
Gaza, The Gulf Observer: The Gaza Media Office has issued a stark warning about the looming humanitarian disaster facing 2 million displaced Palestinians in Gaza, as deteriorating conditions and inadequate shelter threaten their safety ahead of winter. The statement highlights the dire situation caused by ongoing Israeli attacks and blockades, which have left many without proper protection from the harsh weather.
A recent government field assessment revealed that 74% of the tents used by displaced Palestinians are no longer fit for use. According to the report, 100,000 out of 135,000 tents require immediate replacement due to severe wear and tear after 11 months of continuous displacement. Made from fragile materials like wood, nylon, and fabric, these tents have been degraded by the relentless heat and harsh climate of Gaza, leaving them unusable under current conditions.
With winter approaching, the Gaza Media Office warned of a “real humanitarian disaster” that could render millions of people homeless if immediate action is not taken. The office also condemned the continued closure of crossings by Israel, which has prevented the delivery of approximately 250,000 tents and caravans urgently needed to provide shelter for the displaced.
As the crisis deepens, international organizations and humanitarian agencies are being urged to intervene to prevent further suffering among the displaced population, who remain trapped in Gaza under worsening living conditions.
