General Asim Munir Promoted to Field Marshal for Leadership in Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: On May 20, 2025, the federal cabinet of Pakistan approved the promotion of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal. This decision, made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, recognizes General Munir’s exemplary leadership during Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, a significant military operation launched in response to Indian aggression.
The Prime Minister’s Office stated that General Munir’s strategic acumen and courageous leadership were pivotal in ensuring national security and defeating enemy forces during the operation. The cabinet also decided to continue the services of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu beyond his current term.
In a statement, Field Marshal Munir expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty and dedicated the honor to the nation, the Armed Forces, and especially to the martyrs and veterans. He emphasized that this promotion is a collective honor reflecting the sacrifices and resilience of the Pakistani people and military.
