German President visits Oman’s Nizwa Fort
Nizwa, The Gulf Observer: Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his spouse visited Nizwa Fort in the Wilayat of Nizwa in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate today within the context of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
Upon their arrival at the fort, the president and his spouse were received by Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of A’ Dakhiliyah, and Saleh Dhiab Al-Rubai’ee, Wali of Nizwa.
The guest and his accompanying delegation listened to a briefing about Nizwa Fort, the stages of its construction, its archaeological designs and heritage features that demonstrate the legacies of Omani history.
The president went on tour of the arcades of the fort and its exhibitions, which include a set of artefacts, and watched live demos, presented by the people of Nizwa, about centuries-old methods of making sweets and pottery.
The guest received some souvenirs presented by a number of children from the wilayat of Nizwa.
The president signed the VIP Register, expressing his delight to get a close look at the history of the Sultanate of Oman.
The German President and his spouse were accompanied during the visit by Eng. Said Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (Head of the Mission of Honour), and Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, among other officials.
