Global Leaders Send Condolences to Vietnam Over Passing of Nguyen Phu Trong

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Heads of state and government, leaders of parliaments and political parties, and political organizations from Laos, China, Cambodia, Cuba, and Russia have expressed their condolences to Vietnam over the passing of Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong.

The condolences were addressed to the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government of Vietnam, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

The Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), the Lao National Assembly, the President of Laos, the Lao Government, the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC), and the people of Lao ethnic groups expressed deep condolences, noting that Vietnam has lost a steadfast revolutionary leader. The message emphasized Nguyễn Phú Trọng’s contributions to national liberation, reunification, party building, and anti-corruption efforts, which significantly raised Vietnam’s international stature.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) described Nguyen Phu Trong as a staunch Marxist and a great leader, who made outstanding contributions to Vietnam’s Đổi Mới (Renewal) and the building of socialism. The CPC highlighted his role in elevating China-Vietnam relations and expressed confidence that Vietnam would continue to build on his legacy.

In Cambodia, President of the Cambodian People’s Party Hun Sen expressed his sadness at Nguyen Phu Trong’s passing, calling it a great loss to the CPV, the Vietnamese State, and the people. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and National Assembly President Khuon Sudary also lauded his contributions to Vietnam’s development and the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship.

Cuban leaders, including General Raúl Castro Ruz and President Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez, extended their deepest condolences, recalling Nguyen Phu Trong’s dedication to the Vietnam-Cuba relationship. They remembered his visit to Cuba and his role in promoting socialism in Vietnam.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted Nguyen Phu Trong’s lifelong dedication to his Fatherland and his significant role in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam. Russian parliamentary leaders Valentina Matvienko and Vyacheslav Volodin also sent messages highlighting his contributions to bilateral relations.

The passing of Nguyen Phu Trong marks a significant loss not only for Vietnam but also for the international community, who mourn the loss of a dedicated and influential leader.
