Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Meets President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Sidelines of LLDC3 in Turkmenbashi

Turkmenbashi, The Gulf Observer: On the margins of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a bilateral meeting with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in the city of Turkmenbashi on Monday.
According to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, President Mirziyoyev congratulated the Turkmen side on the successful organization of the high-level international forum and commended the relevance of the issues addressed, particularly in the context of promoting sustainable regional development.
The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of Uzbek-Turkmen relations, which continue to be grounded in good-neighborliness, mutual respect, and strategic partnership. The two leaders reviewed the progress made in implementing agreements reached during their previous meeting in April 2025 in Samarkand, reaffirming their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation.
Both sides acknowledged the positive momentum in political, economic, and cultural ties, which have strengthened significantly in recent years. It was noted that bilateral trade turnover has already reached $600 million since the beginning of 2025, reflecting the expanding scope of economic engagement.
Ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration in key sectors—industry, energy, transport, agriculture, and water resource management—were also highlighted. The leaders underscored the importance of continuing joint projects and initiatives that contribute to regional stability, prosperity, and environmental sustainability.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared determination of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to further enhance their multifaceted partnership and to jointly address the developmental challenges facing landlocked countries in Central Asia and beyond.
