His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arrives in Beijing for State Visit

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrived in Beijing yesterday for an official state visit commencing today.

During his visit, His Majesty will also attend the 9th Asian Winter Games, which is set to take place tomorrow in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province.

Accompanying His Majesty on the visit is His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

Upon arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, His Majesty was warmly received by China’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Han Jun, and the Ambassador of China to Brunei Darussalam, Xiao Jianguo. Also present to greet His Majesty were Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to China, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Abdu’r Rahmani bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir.

Earlier, prior to departing from Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, seeking blessings for a safe and successful journey.

His Majesty was bid farewell at the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba by members of the royal family, along with Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet ministers, members of the Privy Council, deputy ministers, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, and the Acting Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force.

His Majesty’s visit is expected to further strengthen the diplomatic and economic ties between Brunei Darussalam and China.
