Historic Heirloom Parade Unites Indonesia

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: In a historic and symbolic event, the Heirloom Red-and-White Flag and the Independence Proclamation Text Parade was conducted with great ceremony, reflecting the unity and mutual assistance of all elements of Indonesian society. The parade, described as a milestone by Yusuf Permana, Director of Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, was part of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations.
“What is interesting about this parade is the route. Usually, the route is only from Monas to the Merdeka Palace, but this time, we have created history by doing this parade from Monas to IKN Nusantara,” Permana remarked, highlighting the significance of this unprecedented route.
For the first time in history, the parade featured the heirloom flag duplicate and the proclamation text manuscript copy being transported from the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta to the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan. The event, held on Saturday, marked a new chapter in the nation’s Independence Day traditions.
The ceremony commenced in the Monas Kemerdekaan Room, where the two heirloom duplicates were formally handed over to the 2023 Retired Paskibraka (Heritage Flag Force) Team. Kachina Ozora from Central Kalimantan proudly served as the flag bearer, while Keyla Azzahra Purnama from South Sumatra carried the proclamation text.
The parade was a vibrant display of national pride, involving 180 young representatives from Jakarta’s Abang-None tourism ambassadors, 122 retired Paskibraka members, and students from the State Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) and state polytechnics. The procession was further enlivened by local arts and creative performances, infusing a rich cultural atmosphere into the event.
The parade’s route covered several iconic landmarks in Jakarta, including the Patung Kuda Monument, the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, Semanggi, and the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base. Upon arrival at Balikpapan Airport in East Kalimantan, the entourage was received with full honors by the Presidential Security Guard (Paspampres).
This historic parade was not merely a symbolic procession but a powerful reflection of Indonesia’s national spirit and its commitment to progress while steadfastly upholding its core values. As the nation looks forward, the parade stands as a testament to Indonesia’s unity, resilience, and dedication to its heritage and future.
