HM King Mohammed VI Chairs Religious Vigil at Hassan II Mosque, Commemorates Laylat al-Qadr

Casablanca, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and HH Prince Moulay Ismail, presided over a solemn religious vigil at the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca on Saturday, marking the blessed occasion of Laylat al-Qadr.

Following the Isha and Taraweeh prayers, verses from the Holy Quran were beautifully recited by Othmane Mchachti, an 11-year-old from Fez and recipient of the Mohammed VI National Prize for Quran memorization, recitation, and chanting. His Majesty the King honored the young reciter with the Prize, underscoring the Sovereign’s dedication to promoting Quranic education among the youth.

Mohamed Bashar Arafat, representing scholars who participated in Religious Dialogues during Ramadan 1445 AH, expressed deep gratitude to His Majesty for the warm hospitality extended to the scholars during their stay in the Kingdom. Arafat highlighted the significance of these dialogues in addressing contemporary challenges and fostering scholarly exchanges on local and global issues.

The ceremony featured the conclusion of Sahih al-Bukhari by Hassan Farid and the reading of Hadith Al Khatm by Abdelhafid Talbi, both esteemed members of local Councils of Ulema.

In recognition of exemplary contributions to Islamic scholarship, His Majesty awarded the Mohammed VI Ahl al-Qur’an and Ahl al-Hadith Prizes to Omar Mohcine from Casablanca and Zineb Abou Ali from Rabat, respectively. Additionally, the Mohammed VI Prize for Adhan and Tahlil was bestowed upon Said Abou Alaich (Excellence Prize) from Guercif and El Hassan Akhiar (Honorary Prize) from Tetouan.

Further, the Mohammed VI Prize for Quranic Schools honored Abdellah El Hayane (Methodology of Learning Prize) from Casablanca, Abdelkader Hammouch (Performance Prize) from Sidi Bennour, and Nasser Ait Bouncer (Management Prize) from Taroudant, highlighting excellence in Quranic education.

Attendees included the Head of Government, Presidents of Parliament’s two Houses, His Majesty’s Advisors, government officials, diplomatic representatives from Islamic countries, and distinguished members of the Royal Armed Forces. The vigil concluded with prayers for His Majesty’s well-being, the late HM King Mohammed V, and the late HM King Hassan II.

This event exemplifies His Majesty’s commitment to advancing Islamic scholarship and fostering spiritual enrichment within the Moroccan community.
