Hundreds of Israeli Settlers Storm Al Aqsa Mosque Complex
East Jerusalem, The Gulf Observer: Tensions flared at the Al Aqsa Mosque complex in the occupied East Jerusalem as hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers, under the heavy protection of Israeli troops, stormed the revered site to perform religious rituals. The incursion, which took place today, has further strained the already volatile relations between Israeli settlers and Palestinian Muslims.
According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing local sources, approximately 800 Israeli settlers toured the mosque complex and conducted Talmudic religious rituals. The incident occurred in response to a call from extremist Jewish groups to commemorate Tisha B’Av, an annual Jewish fast day that marks the occurrence of several disasters in Jewish history.
The settlers gained entry to the Al Aqsa Mosque complex through the western Al-Mugharbah Gate, a route frequently used during such incursions, Wafa reported. The provocative act has been widely condemned by Palestinian authorities and religious leaders, who see it as a deliberate attempt to inflame tensions in the region.
The Al Aqsa Mosque is one of Islam’s holiest sites and holds deep religious significance for Muslims worldwide. The ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict has frequently seen the mosque complex become a flashpoint for violence and unrest, as both communities lay claim to the site.
Today’s events have added to the mounting tensions in the region, with Palestinian leaders warning of potential escalation if such actions continue. The situation remains highly sensitive, with international observers urging restraint from all parties involved to prevent further violence.
