IHC Bar Association Launches International Relations and Diplomacy Committee

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: On April 10, 2025 Islamabad, An important meeting of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association was held today, where the newly formed International Relations and Diplomacy Committee was formally introduced. The meeting was presided over by the President of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, Mr. Syed Wajid Gillani and Mr. Chaudhary Manzoor Ahmed Jajja Secretary Islamabad High Court Bar Association.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Committee Mr Zaildar Ahsan Shah and prominent members of the legal fraternity, including Mr. Safeer Shah, Mr. Tajamul Hussain Latti, Mr. Zain ul Abadeen Qureshi, Mr. Waheed Qureshi, Mr. Arsalan Azeem, Mr. Chaudhary Yaseen Iqbal and Mr Fahad Chaudhary among others. The session opened with a welcome note by Mr. Zaildar Ahsan Shah, Chairman of International Relations Committee who briefed the attendees on the purpose and scope of the Committee.
He explained that this initiative aims to create long-term institutional linkages between the Islamabad High Court Bar Association and International Bar Associations around the world. The goal is to foster professional collaboration, legal Education, and mutual understanding of different legal systems. Mr. Syed Wajid Gillani, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of international connectivity for the legal community in Pakistan. He encouraged the Committee to actively engage with Global Bar Associations and explore avenues for meaningful cooperation. He further directed the Chairman and members to devise a strategic framework for building these global relationships.
The Secretary Mr. Chaudhary Manzoor Ahmed Jajja noted that the current elected body is committed to empowering the next generation of legal professionals. He directed to introduce specialized training and scholarship programs for young lawyers and new law students.
Mr. Zaildar Ahsan Shah extended his sincere thanks to the President and Secretary of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association for entrusting him with the responsibility of chairing such a significant committee. He stated, he is truly grateful for the confidence shown in me. This committee will serve as a bridge between the Islamabad Bar and the international legal community. Through engagement with diplomatic missions and collaboration with global legal bodies and will work to establish meaningful partnerships, understand diverse legal systems, and bring global exposure to lawyers. He added, “that their mission is clear to connect this Bar with the world, to learn from it, and to deliver the best for the future of legal fraternity.
Mr. Zaildar Ahsan Shah emphasized that his focus will remain on the professional betterment of lawyers through the development of strong international connections and aim to create meaningful opportunities whether in the form of professional development, global exposure, training programs, or academic advancement. It’s time to connect our legal fraternity with the world.
Mr. Zaildar Ahsan Shah highlighted marks the beginning of a bold and transformative chapter for the Islamabad Bar one that is dignified to position the legal community on the global stage with purpose, vision, and meaningful international engagement. Committee members assured the leadership of their full commitment to delivering impactful results.
A detailed discussion was held on how to host visiting dignitaries and manage formal engagements with foreign bar associations. It was agreed that the Committee’s tagline will be:”International Linkages: Islamabad High Court Bar Association to the World.”
The Committee plans to work on several initiatives, including:
- Establishing long-term institutional partnerships with leading International Bar Associations.
- Hosting high-level seminars, global legal conferences, and interactive dialogue sessions on emerging international legal challenges.
- Launching advanced training programs focused on contemporary legal practices.
- Facilitating international academic opportunities, including fully supported LLM and PhD scholarships for aspiring legal professionals.
- Conducting in-depth comparative legal studies to bridge understanding between diverse legal frameworks.
- Promoting strategic legal collaboration between Pakistan’s legal system and global jurisdictions to foster mutual understanding and reform-oriented dialogue.
- Initiating structured exchange programs, including regular bilateral visits with international bar councils and legal institutions to build lasting professional linkages.
These initiatives will help young Pakistani lawyers gain global exposure and develop a deeper understanding of evolving legal standards. The Islamabad High Court Bar Association’s leadership believes this initiative will not only raise the Bar’s international profile but also play a significant role in shaping a more informed, connected, and progressive legal community in Pakistan.
