Ilham Aliyev Congratulates Masoud Pezeshkian on Election as President of Iran
Baku, The Gulf Observer: On July 9, President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan made a congratulatory phone call to Masoud Pezeshkian, newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to media reports.
During the conversation, President Aliyev extended his congratulations to President Pezeshkian, wishing him success in his new role. President Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and the letter sent by President Aliyev on the occasion of his election. He emphasized his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iran across various domains.
Both leaders expressed confidence in the continued expansion of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, which are rooted in shared religious and cultural ties, as well as a foundation of friendship and brotherhood. They highlighted the importance of implementing existing agreements to foster cooperation between the two nations.
In addition, the presidents discussed issues of mutual concern and exchanged invitations for official visits. President Aliyev invited President Pezeshkian to visit Azerbaijan, an invitation which was gladly accepted. Likewise, President Pezeshkian invited President Aliyev to visit Iran, which President Aliyev accepted with pleasure.
