Indonesia: 3rd World Creative Economy Conference
Nusa Dua, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President stated at the 3rd World Creative Economy Conference (WCCE) in Nusa Dua, Bali Province, on Thursday that Indonesia had taken a leading role in building an inclusive creative economy ecosystem.
The president noted that Indonesia will also encourage greater contribution from the creative economy sector to the recovery of the global economy.
“The creative economy can be a pillar to boost inclusive economic growth for all,” he remarked at the conference, which is a side event of Indonesia’s 2022 G20 Presidency.
The head of state assessed that the creative economy sector can become a solution to improve people’s welfare sustainably.
Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, the sale of creative economy products continues to run, so the sector is able to survive relatively better amid the pandemic as compared to other economic sectors, the president noted.
“Some sub-sectors of the creative economy, such as applications and games as well as television and radio, have grown significantly, triggered by the consumption of (digital) contents that had increased significantly during the pandemic,” he stated.
Jokowi affirmed that the creative economy sector will not only become the economic backbone of Indonesia but also of other countries.
The president expects that in future, the sector will become an inclusive economic power.
Hence, development of the sector must continue to be encouraged, so it will be able to grow faster, bigger, and more advanced in the future, he noted.
The World Creative Economy Conference (WCCE) is a global initiative established in 2018 to promote an inclusive creative economy, involving one thousand stakeholders from various institutions and entities as well as policy makers.
There are four sub-themes in the conference, with the first one being “Pertinent Issues and Progress on Creative Economy” that will discuss the current condition of the creative economy sector.
The second sub-theme is “Resilient Creative Economy for Global Goals” that will talk about the 2030 inclusiveness agenda and sustainable development goals (SDGs) to encourage resilience of the economic sector to be able to overcome global issues.
The other sub-theme is “Global Creative Economy: What’s Next?” that will explore the direction of the sector in the future as well as build joint attempts to overcome the challenges and welcome prospects in the sector.
The last sub-theme is “Introduction of Creative Economy Roadmap” that will present the Bali Creative Economy Roadmap Draft as the result of the 3rd WCCE.
