President Prabowo Condemns Killing of Indonesian UN Peacekeepers, Calls for UNSC Action

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has strongly condemned what he described as a “heinous act” that resulted in the deaths of three Indonesian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
In a statement shared via his official Instagram account on Saturday, President Prabowo said the nation is in mourning over the loss of its personnel, who were engaged in a “noble mission” to maintain international peace and security.
“We strongly condemn every heinous act that undermines peace and leads to the loss of the nation’s finest personnel,” the President stated, reaffirming Indonesia’s commitment to global peacekeeping efforts.
He emphasized that the state would honor the fallen soldiers and ensure their sacrifices are remembered, while urging citizens to uphold unity and not allow any forces to undermine national harmony.
The deceased personnel — Captain Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, First Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon — were posthumously promoted, and their families were provided with compensation.
President Prabowo paid his last respects during a solemn lying-in-state ceremony held at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Saturday. During the ceremony, he personally conveyed condolences to the bereaved families as the coffins of the fallen soldiers were draped in Indonesia’s red-and-white national flag.
Indonesia has also strongly condemned the attack at the international level and called for a thorough and transparent investigation. Furthermore, Jakarta has requested an extraordinary meeting of the United Nations Security Council to address the incident and ensure accountability.
