Indonesia Aims to Strengthen Computational Infrastructure, Develop Digital Talent

Digital Talent

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria has emphasized that strengthening computational infrastructure and nurturing digital talent are crucial to accelerating the nation’s digital economy growth.

Speaking at the launch of The Empowering Indonesia Report 2025 in Jakarta on Monday, Patria said Indonesia’s digital economy holds vast business potential, supported by abundant resources and a growing pool of digital professionals developed through government initiatives.

“We believe that we will lead in five to ten years, and it depends on our preparedness,” he stated.

Highlighting regional prospects, Patria noted that ASEAN’s digital economy is projected to reach up to US$1 trillion by 2030, with Indonesia expected to contribute around 40 percent of the total value. To achieve this goal, he stressed the importance of balancing the expansion of computational infrastructure with continuous efforts to enhance digital talent.

He explained that robust infrastructure is vital for advancing the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, including the establishment of reliable computing systems and AI-ready data centers to support large-scale data processing.

Patria added that the government is working to meet the country’s rising demand for skilled digital professionals, estimating that Indonesia will need around nine million digital talents by 2030 to fully harness the benefits of the digital economy.

He concluded that capable human resources remain a decisive factor in driving digital transformation, noting that “even infrastructure limitations can be overcome through strong digital talent.”
