Indonesia and China Forge Stronger Defense Ties in Beijing Talks

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin held talks with his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun in Beijing on Wednesday, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the defense sector.

In an official statement, Minister Sjamsoeddin highlighted the discussions, which covered various forms of military collaboration. “We will continue to enhance cooperation, not only focusing on the transfer of military technology but also bolstering direct relations between military personnel through soldier-to-soldier contact,” he stated.

The two ministers also addressed the importance of using dialogue to resolve regional issues, a method aimed at strengthening ties between China and Indonesia amid rising inter-regional tensions.

“Considering the dynamics of the geopolitical and geostrategic situations that currently continue to develop, it is only right that we work together to maintain favorable conditions to realize mutual progress,” Sjamsoeddin emphasized.

He further noted the longstanding history of strong relations between the two nations, underpinned by various forms of cooperation. The meeting reaffirmed their commitment to fostering deeper ties for mutual benefit.

“Our relationship is not just friendship, but also brotherhood, and it is my duty to continue and develop this brotherhood bond,” Sjamsoeddin remarked, expressing optimism that the meeting would further solidify the enduring partnership between Indonesia and China.
