Indonesia and Jordan Explore Strengthening Ties Through Employment Sector Cooperation

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian Minister of Manpower Yassierli hosted Jordanian Ambassador to Indonesia Sudqi Atallah Abdel Qader Al Omoush to discuss opportunities for enhancing bilateral relations in the employment sector.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Manpower’s office in Jakarta on Friday, December 20.

“We can explore the possibility of forging collaboration in the employment sector. Indonesia and Jordan have the potential to exchange knowledge about this matter,” Minister Yassierli stated in a press release issued by the ministry on Saturday.

The minister emphasized the importance of assessing the feasibility of initiatives such as capacity-building programs for human resources, vocational training courses, and aligning the skills of Indonesian workers with Jordan’s job market needs. He also expressed Indonesia’s willingness to collaborate on other employment-related aspects, including occupational safety and health.

Secretary-General of the Manpower Ministry, Anwar Sanusi, announced plans to draft a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as a framework for cooperation between Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower and Jordan’s Ministry of Labor. He noted that Indonesia has stationed a manpower attaché in Jordan to facilitate the placement of Indonesian workers.

Sanusi expressed optimism that the meeting would pave the way for broader collaboration between the two nations, highlighting plans to organize vocational training programs to meet Jordan’s need for professional workers.

Ambassador Al Omoush, who previously met with former Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah in August 2024, also discussed the placement of Indonesian migrant workers through the One-Channel Placement System (SPSK).
