Indonesia-China Business Reception Strengthens Bilateral Economic Ties

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the 2025 Indonesia-China Business Reception in Jakarta on Saturday evening, marking a significant step in strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations.

The event, organized by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), aimed to foster closer business connections by bringing together business leaders from both countries. President Prabowo and Premier Li arrived at the venue at approximately 7 p.m. local time, dressed in black suits, and were greeted by key Indonesian officials, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia. Also in attendance were Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, chairperson of the National Economic Council (DEN), and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The reception was attended by over 100 business participants from both Indonesia and China, serving as a strategic platform to foster new agreements and deepen bilateral economic ties. Minister Roeslani noted that Premier Li’s delegation included around 60 Chinese investors and business representatives, including both existing and potential investors.

Earlier in the day, Premier Li arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta, where he was briefed on the importance of his visit in advancing economic relations. Roeslani expressed optimism that the forthcoming meeting between President Prabowo and Premier Li on Sunday, May 25, would further strengthen investment flows and bilateral cooperation.

Premier Li’s visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China, and in addition to the business reception, he is set to engage in a series of official meetings, including discussions with members of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Sunday.
