Indonesia Condemns Israeli Attack on UNRWA School in Central Gaza
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian government has issued a strong condemnation against the recent attack by Israeli occupation forces on al-Jaouni School, a facility operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Central Gaza.
“Indonesia strongly condemns Israel’s barbaric attack on al-Jaouni School in the Nuseirat refugee camp operated by UNRWA in Central Gaza (July 6),” the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry stated in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday.
The ministry criticized Israel for its continued violations of international law and highlighted the increasing civilian casualties resulting from these actions. The statement further reproached the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and nations supporting Israel for their inaction against what it described as Israeli atrocities.
“Are such atrocities still not enough for the UN Security Council and countries supporting Israel to take firm actions against Israel?” the ministry questioned.
The condemnation follows a report from the Gaza Health Ministry, which detailed a massacre at the Nuseirat refugee camp’s school, resulting in 16 civilian deaths and around 50 injuries. The Palestinian resistance group Hamas labeled the attack as part of a broader genocide campaign against Palestinians in Gaza and called for immediate international intervention to halt Israeli military actions.
Hamas urged the international community and the UN to take effective measures to end the violence and war crimes in Gaza. A Gaza media office report further revealed that since the US-backed aggression began on October 7 of the previous year, Israel had attacked 17 schools and refugee camps, leaving many residents seeking shelter in these educational institutions after losing their homes to air and ground strikes.
Indonesia’s denunciation adds to the growing international outcry over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging for immediate actions to protect civilian lives and uphold international law.
