Indonesia Highlights Family Values and Solidarity in 2025 Christmas Celebration

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs has stated that the 2025 Christmas celebration, themed “God Is Present to Save the Family,” serves as a foundation for rebuilding healthy and meaningful relationships, particularly within families.
Antonius Sinaga, Head of Catholic Community Guidance at the ministry’s Jakarta Regional Office, said the theme reflects God’s love amid various difficulties and provides a basis for restoring strong and healthy family relationships. He noted that the concept of salvation is not confined to a historical narrative but is relevant to the challenges faced by modern families, including economic pressures, mental health concerns, and intergenerational relations.
“Many families today are facing internal conflicts, the impacts of natural disasters, and anxiety about the future,” Sinaga said, adding that this year’s Christmas celebration is expected to encourage Catholic families, including those in the Archdiocese of Jakarta, to grow together while also promoting ecological awareness.
He emphasized that Christmas should not be merely ceremonial, but should bring tangible benefits to people’s lives and overall well-being.
Separately, Adib, Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Jakarta Regional Office, called on Christians and Jakarta residents to maintain harmony, respect diversity, strengthen fraternity, and foster solidarity within society.
He also urged the public to show solidarity with communities affected by floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. According to Adib, the welcoming of the New Year 2026 should be marked by awareness and empathy toward communities in Sumatra that are still recovering from natural disasters.
