Indonesia Invited to 2025 Army Military-Technical Forum in Russia

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Sergei Shoigu, has officially invited Indonesia to participate in the 2025 edition of Army, an annual international military-technical forum set to take place in the coming months in Russia.

Shoigu extended the invitation during a meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.

“Indonesia has been invited to attend the event, which annually attracts participation from 100 countries,” stated Brigadier General Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang, head of the Ministry’s Information Bureau.

Inkiriwang noted that the invitation underscores the successful and harmonious relations between Indonesia and Russia in the defense sector. He recalled that Indonesia had previously invited the Russian Navy to participate in the ORRUDA bilateral military exercise in the Java Sea in November last year.

The Army Forum, he explained, will provide Indonesia with the opportunity to showcase its defense equipment and systems while gaining valuable insights into military technology from Russia and other participating nations.

Inkiriwang also emphasized that the invitation aligns with ongoing discussions between Indonesia and Russia regarding a defense equipment exchange cooperation scheme. However, he did not specify the exact date of the forum or the types of equipment Indonesia intends to exhibit.

The official expressed optimism that Indonesia’s participation in the forum would further strengthen bilateral ties with Russia, particularly in the defense and security sectors.

The Army Forum is known for displaying land, naval, and aerial defense equipment from 100 countries, alongside simulations of various military operations.
