Indonesia, Saudi Arabia Strengthen Cooperation on Hajj Village Development

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) discussed the development of the planned Hajj Village in Mecca during a phone call, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed.
According to Wijaya, the conversation took place while President Prabowo was visiting Moscow, Russia. The discussion focused on key aspects of the project, including the location, construction process, and facilities to be provided for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that the leaders also explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
During the call, MBS extended his condolences to President Prabowo and the Indonesian people affected by the recent flash floods and landslides in Sumatra. He reportedly praised Indonesia as a “great country” and described President Prabowo as a “strong leader capable of facing any situation.”
Saudi Arabia has expressed support for Indonesia’s plan to establish the Hajj Village. Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, is participating in the auction for land allocated to the project. Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani stated on December 2 that the targeted plot is located in Eastern Hindawiyah, and the fund is among the top three bidders, with the winner expected to be announced in mid-December 2025.
“Hopefully, the aspiration of establishing this Hajj Village will come true, and we can proceed with its construction,” Roeslani added.
