Indonesia to Launch National Vocational Training Program Targeting 20,000 Youth in 2026

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower will roll out the first phase of its National Vocational Training Program in April 2026, aiming to equip 20,000 recent high school and vocational school graduates with industry-ready skills.
Minister of Manpower Yassierli announced on Friday in Jakarta that the initiative targets individuals who have completed high school or vocational education within the past three years.
Complementing National Internship Pathways
The minister described the vocational training program as a complementary pathway to the government’s National Internship initiative, which primarily serves university graduates. The new program seeks to broaden access to employment-oriented training for young Indonesians entering the workforce directly after secondary education.
Registration has opened for 37 training fields across 33 locations nationwide. A total of 830 classes will be offered through online, offline, and blended learning formats, all led by certified mentors.
Certification and Government Support
Participants will receive structured training modules and, upon completion, a competency certificate issued by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP), enhancing their employability and professional credentials.
To ensure broader access and participation, the government will provide lunch and a daily transport allowance of Rp20,000 (approximately US$1.19). Trainees will also be covered by work accident insurance and death benefits during the training period.
Training centers under the Ministry of Manpower will play an active role in connecting graduates with industry opportunities, supporting job placement and workforce integration.
Boosting Employment Prospects
Minister Yassierli expressed optimism that the program would generate strong public interest and effectively match participants with training fields aligned with their educational backgrounds. By doing so, the government aims to improve graduates’ competitiveness and increase their chances of securing employment in relevant sectors.
The National Vocational Training Program forms part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to strengthen human capital development and reduce youth unemployment by aligning skills training with industry demand.
