Indonesian President receives PM of Timor Leste at Bogor Palace

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received the official visit of Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste Taur Matan Ruak at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Monday.

Prime Minister Ruak arrived at the palace at 9:55 a.m. local time, accompanied by cavalry.

The presidential marching band and troops wearing traditional attire welcomed the arrival of the prime minister and the delegates of Timor Leste.

President Jokowi and several ministers welcomed Ruak at the palace courtyard. The president and the prime minister then listened to the national anthems of both countries.

State Secretary Minister Pratikno, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang, and Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim welcomed Ruak at the palace.

Jokowi then invited the prime minister to sign the state guest book and enter the veranda room.

President Jokowi had earlier received the state visit of President of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste Jose Manuel Ramos-Horta at the Bogor Presidential Palace in July 2022.

At the meeting, President Jokowi encouraged the two countries to complete their bilateral investment treaty immediately.

Jokowi stated that the value of Indonesia’s investment in Timor Leste had reached US$818 million in the banking, oil and gas, as well as telecommunications sectors.

The bilateral meeting in July 2022 resulted in four memoranda of understanding on agriculture, cross-border movement of buses, standardization, and metrology, as well as technical cooperation in trade.
