Indonesia’s Participation in Board of Peace Signals Global Recognition of Its Role in Palestinian Peace Efforts

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Foreign Minister Sugiono has said that Indonesia’s participation in the Board of Peace for Gaza reflects international recognition of the country’s diplomatic role and its vision for peace in Palestine.

“Our participation means that the world recognizes Indonesia’s diplomacy, as well as Indonesia’s vision and views for world peace and, in particular, peace in the region,” Sugiono said in a video broadcast on social media on Friday.

He explained that with President Prabowo Subianto and other world leaders, including United States President Donald Trump, signing the Board of Peace charter, the organization has officially been established as an international body.

According to the foreign minister, the Board of Peace will oversee administration, security, and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, which will be carried out in several phases. He added that the body will also supervise the provisional Palestinian authority responsible for carrying out administrative functions in Gaza.

“Participation in the Board of Peace is the realization of Indonesia’s strategic, constructive, and tangible steps to support Palestinian independence,” Sugiono stressed.

He further noted that the Rafah border crossing is expected to reopen to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid, while an International Stabilization Force (ISF) will be established to help maintain peace and security in Gaza.

Sugiono emphasized that Indonesia’s participation in the Board of Peace is consistent with its long-standing and firm support for the Palestinian cause and its people, which Indonesia has consistently demonstrated on international platforms.

“The Board of Peace is a concrete alternative that we can rely on in our efforts to achieve the goal,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto described the Board of Peace for Gaza as a “historic opportunity” to achieve lasting peace in the enclave, reaffirming Indonesia’s commitment to take part in the mission for the benefit of the Palestinian people.

The president also stressed that countries joining the Board of Peace share a sincere intention to assist the Palestinian people in their pursuit of peace in Gaza.

In addition to Indonesia and the United States, countries that have signed the Board of Peace declaration include Hungary, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye.
