International Violin-Making Competition to Unite Global Luthiers in Prague This June

Prague, The Gulf Observer: The Czech Museum of Music in Prague will host an international violin-making competition from June 3 to 7, welcoming around 40 master luthiers from 12 countries. Founded in 1997 by renowned Czech luthier Jaromír Joo, the event has become a prestigious platform for global exchange, craftsmanship, and innovation in the art of violin making.

A hallmark of the competition is its distinctive scroll-carving discipline, inspired by the legendary Italian luthier Antonio Stradivari. This component challenges participants to demonstrate precision, artistry, and traditional techniques in shaping one of the violin’s most intricate features.

Beyond the competition itself, the event will offer a rich cultural program open to the public, including expert lectures, live concerts, and exhibitions that celebrate the heritage and evolving artistry of string instrument making.
