Iran and Iraq Sign Agreement to Enhance Scientific Cooperation

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian and Iraqi officials signed a comprehensive plan on Sunday to strengthen scientific cooperation between the two countries. The signing took place on the inaugural day of Iran-Iraq Science Week, attended by Iran’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Hossein Simaei Saraf and Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Naeem al-Aboudi.

The agreement marks a significant step in fostering closer academic and research ties, leveraging shared cultural and historical connections.

Minister Simaei Saraf, who arrived in Iraq on Wednesday evening, was welcomed by Iran’s Ambassador to Baghdad, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh. Speaking at the opening ceremony held in the Iraqi city of Karbala, Simaei Saraf hailed the event as an excellent platform for strategic planning and a key milestone in deepening long-term scientific collaboration.

“The shared religion, language, and civilizational heritage form a strong foundation for strengthening bilateral relations,” he emphasized. He also highlighted the shared history and rich scientific traditions of both nations as a catalyst for limitless collaborative potential.

The Iran-Iraq Science Week aims to promote academic exchange, joint research initiatives, and capacity-building programs, further solidifying the partnership between the two neighboring nations.
