Iran and Turkiye Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Concerns

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, engaged in a significant phone conversation with Turkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, focusing on bilateral relations and addressing regional challenges, particularly concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Bagheri Kani commended Turkiye for its active participation in the 19th Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting held in Tehran. He emphasized the increasing utilization of economic cooperation platforms such as the Economic Cooperation Organization of the Eight Developing Countries (D-8), the Economic Cooperation Organization, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Regarding recent developments, Bagheri Kani underscored concerns over threats posed by the Israeli regime towards Lebanon, describing them as an extension of the brutality witnessed in Gaza. He reaffirmed Lebanon’s readiness to confront such threats, warning of severe consequences for any aggression.

Highlighting the potential for enhanced regional connectivity, Bagheri Kani discussed the importance of expanding rail transport between Iran and Turkey. He stressed that activating mutual commercial and economic capacities would contribute significantly to regional stability and security.

In response, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed gratitude to Iran for its steadfast support on the Palestinian issue and condemned Israel’s actions against Gaza’s population. Fidan criticized the Zionist regime’s policies, noting their detrimental impact on regional stability and the broader implications for neighboring countries.

Fidan also emphasized the pivotal role of regional organizations like D-8 in addressing and resolving the Palestinian crisis, stressing the need for concerted efforts and cooperation among member states.

The conversation between the Iranian and Turkish Foreign Ministers reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and addressing shared regional concerns, particularly in the face of ongoing challenges in the Middle East.
