2026 International Fair

Berlin, The Gulf Observer: One of the world’s largest tourism exhibitions, ITB Berlin 2026, was held in the German capital, bringing together global leaders and stakeholders from the tourism industry.

The international tourism fair, regarded as a key event in the global travel sector, has been organized annually since 1966. This year’s edition attracted more than 170,000 participants, while the accompanying ITB Berlin International Congress gathered around 24,000 industry specialists.

The event, marking the 60th anniversary of the ITB Berlin exhibition, took place at Berlin Messe and featured participation from 5,800 major companies and organizations representing 170 countries involved in tourism, gastronomy, logistics, and tourism technologies.

Uzbekistan participated in the exhibition with a delegation of tourism companies led by Chairman of the Tourism Committee Abdulaziz Akkulov. With the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany, a national stand covering more than 200 square meters was organized, showcasing the country’s tourism potential.

More than 20 tourism companies, hotels, and airlines represented Uzbekistan at the stand, including Hilton, Uzbekistan Airways, Centrum Air, Qanot Sharq, Orient Star, Travel Factory, People Travel, International Caravan Travel Service, Antique Travel, Sezam Travel, Creative Tours, Onent MICE, Asialuxe, Assalam Travel, and Arda Khiva.

Visitors to the stand were presented with video materials, photo exhibitions, and informational content highlighting Uzbekistan’s tourism attractions, gastronomic offerings, and cultural heritage.

During the fair, representatives of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee introduced Berlin residents, international visitors, and foreign tourism companies to the country’s expanding tourism opportunities, improved infrastructure, and reforms undertaken in recent years to enhance the sector.

Accompanied by Ambassador Dilshod Akhatov, the Uzbek delegation also held meetings with several leading international tourism organizations and companies. Among those visiting the Uzbekistan stand was UN Tourism Secretary-General Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais, who praised Uzbekistan’s initiative to declare 2027 as the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism and expressed interest in the country’s tourism development.

The delegation also held discussions with representatives of major global tourism entities, including TUI Group, DRV, Trip.com, Expedia Group, the German hotel chains Private Palace Hotels & Resorts and Titanic Hotels Group, the International Management Institute (IMI), and the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

During the meetings, agreements were reached on promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism products through online platforms, launching special promotional campaigns for new markets, integrating historical sites into global tourism maps, attracting major international events to the country, constructing luxury hotels in historic cities under international management, and introducing international educational standards to improve professional training in the tourism sector.

Earlier, Uzbekistan had also promoted its tourism potential to the United States market through a series of roadshows titled “Uzbekistan – the Pearl of the Silk Road.”
