Iran, Japan Hold 16th Round of Political Talks in Tehran

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The 16th round of political talks between the directors-general of the foreign ministries of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan was held in Tehran on Wednesday.
The meeting was co-chaired by Ali Asghar Mohammadi, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General for Asia and the Pacific Department at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Keiichi Iwamoto, Assistant Minister and Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including bilateral cooperation as well as key regional and international developments.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trend of political consultations between Iran and Japan at various levels and across different issues. They also conveyed interest in exchanging high-ranking delegations, including a proposed visit by the Japanese Foreign Minister to Tehran, and in identifying new avenues for enhanced cooperation and coordination on bilateral, regional, and international matters, with the aim of contributing to international peace and security.
As part of his visit to Tehran, the Japanese Assistant Minister also met and held separate talks with Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, focusing on issues of shared concern.
