Iran Proposes Extraordinary OIC Meeting to Address Gaza Crisis
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has called for urgent and collective action by Islamic countries to halt the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people and increase aid to Gaza. He announced Iran’s proposal to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In a statement on his X channel, Bagheri Kani detailed a recent telephone conversation with Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, where they discussed the latest developments in the Gaza conflict and the actions of the Zionist regime in Gaza and Rafah. They also touched on mutual cooperation between Iran and Algeria.
Bagheri Kani expressed his gratitude to the Algerian President, Foreign Minister, and other officials for their condolences on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Raisi and Dr. Amirabdollahian. He also voiced his support for Algeria’s initiative on behalf of Islamic countries to present a draft resolution aimed at stopping the Zionist regime’s attacks.
“Emergency and joint action by Islamic countries is necessary to stop the crimes of the occupying regime against the Palestinian people and to increase aid to the oppressed residents of Gaza,” Bagheri Kani emphasized.
He further elaborated, stating, “I suggested that an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation be held, and this proposal was welcomed.”
The proposed meeting seeks to unify the efforts of OIC member states in addressing the escalating crisis and to enhance coordinated humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
