Iran Reaffirms Commitment to Fair Agreement as Fourth Round of Indirect Talks Postponed

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on Thursday that the Islamic Republic remains more committed than ever to achieving a fair and balanced agreement through ongoing negotiations, despite the postponement of the fourth round of indirect talks with the United States.
Writing on his official X account, Araqchi explained that the decision to delay the talks, initially scheduled to be held in Rome on Saturday, May 3, was made jointly by the Iranian, Omani, and American sides due to “logistical and technical reasons.”
He emphasized that Tehran’s position remains unchanged. “On the Iranian side, there has been no change in our determination to reach a negotiated solution. Indeed, we are more determined than ever to reach a fair and balanced agreement: one that ensures the end of sanctions and builds confidence that Iran’s nuclear program will remain peaceful forever, while ensuring that Iran’s rights are fully respected,” Araqchi stated.
The talks are part of a diplomatic effort mediated by Oman to revive dialogue between Tehran and Washington and to seek a resolution to longstanding disputes, particularly concerning Iran’s nuclear program and related sanctions.
Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed the postponement, noting that the new date for the next round of negotiations would be announced in due course. He said the decision followed a proposal by the Omani Foreign Minister.
Baqaei reiterated Iran’s unwavering commitment to diplomacy, underlining that the country seeks a resolution that guarantees the legitimate and legal rights of the Iranian people. “We will continue our diplomatic efforts to lift the unjust sanctions and to end the economic pressure that affects the human rights and daily lives of the Iranian nation,” he said.
The delay comes amid cautious optimism that continued engagement could pave the way for constructive progress toward a lasting agreement.
